# 1st on App Store, a dual translation of Dua-e-Arafa (Arabic: دعا عرفه) in Urdu and English. #

Imam Al-Hussain (a.s.) prayed to Allah at Arafat during his last Pilgrimage to Kaaba (House of Almighty) just before he set out to his martyrdom along with his family in Karbala. This utmost reverence and devotion toward Allah in the form of words by Imam Al-Hussain (a.s.) is called Dua-e-Arafa.
Bishr and Bashir, the sons of Ghalib al-Asadi, narrated that they accompanied Imam Al-Hussain (a.s.) at the Arafat night when the Chief of Martyrs left his tent in a state of submission and divinity. He walked slowly until he, accompanied by a group of his household, sons and servants, stopped at the left side of Arafat and turned his face toward the Holy Kaaba, raised his hands and prayed to his Creator. This unique and extremely important prayer was later on named as Dua-e-Arafa Imam Al-Hussain (a.s.).

After this Dua (prayer) to his Creator Imam Al-Hussain left for Kufa with his household and followers. Imam was invited by thousands of muslims from Kufa through letters who urged Imam Al-Hussain to save them from an unworthy power-hungry infidel Yazid ibn Muawiyah who usurped the Caliphate with the help of many of his kind. Being Successor of Prophet Mohammad (saww) it was obligated for Imam Al-Hussain (a.s.) to respond to the requests of thousands of muslims. He decided to travel to Kufa with his family and some followers in order to show the right path to Muslims and to save them from damnation as Yazid was deteriorating Islamic principles and commands of Almighty Allah. Imam Al-Hussain along with his family and small number of followers were brutally slaughtered by a large gang of Yazidis under the command of Umar ibn Saad appointed by the governor of Kufa Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad by the orders of Yazid ibn Muawiyah. The battle of Karbala took place on 680 AD (10 Muharram 61 AH) as a result of Imam Al-Hussain (a.s.)s unflinching stand against the tyranny of Yazid ibn Muawiyah.
